Congratulations to FloodNet Investigator Dr. Thian Gan of the University of Alberta was award the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) Technical Excellence Award on 31 March 2017.

The ASET Technical Excellence awards individuals or organizations for their consistently outstanding work in the technical arena. Criteria include significant contributions to technical works, innovative technical solutions, leadership, education, consistent professional attitude and progressive contributions to the advancement of technology. Dr. Gan recieved this award for his "outstanding contributions and achievements in the areas of hydrologic extremes under the effects of climate anomalies and climate change, and an innovative approach to investigating their combined impact". "His diligence, breadth and depth of understanding, compassion, and ability to develop and contribute to science and enigneering over the yers have led to an impressive body of research with significance for improving quality of life and mitigating certain societal risk".
