FloodNet Annual Workshop 2015 Scientific Program
We are excited that 2015 will be the 1st Annual Workshop of the NSERC Canadian FloodNet. This workshop will provide an opportunity to showcase the high quality research related to each Theme of the FloodNet Strategic Research Program. The workshop will feature updates about the research progress of each FloodNet research project, oral and poster sessions from investigators and the highly qualified personnel (HQP) whom they supervise. The workshop will offer an opportunity for researchers to interact in person with FloodNet partners to advance the FloodNet research agenda. This last point is particularly important given that a primary goal of FloodNet from its inception was an end-user driven research agenda. We are thrilled this year to have been able to align our workshop with the Provincial Flood Forecasting Workshop being held on September 15th and 16th at the Hilton Garden Inn. This connection will extend the reach of FloodNet and provide practical benefits for our partners. We will also be hosting a presentation about the DHI-FEWS system on the second day.

A total of 30 minutes will be allocated to each project for an oral presentation. This presentation time will be managed by the individual project leader. They will give an overview of the progress within the project and communicate findings and/or research plans. This should include times slots for other investigators and HQP to present progress as appropriate. In addition there will be a poster session on September 18th. If not included in the oral session, it is mandatory for HQP to present a poster. An HQP or investigator presenting as part of an oral session may also submit a poster if desired.
The Provincial Flood Forecasting Committee in Ontario is holding their annual workshop at the Hilton Garden Inn on September 15th and 16th. This group is primarily made up of government representatives who are responsible for flood forecasting. They are willing to make some space available at their workshop for FloodNet researchers only. Instructions for joining this workshop will follow separately. For any FloodNet partners who will already be attending this workshop please let us know in your registration or when you contact the Hilton for your room reservation. You will have to register separately for each workshop with the hotel, however we have made arrangements that you will be able to remain in the same room.
